I have a love affair with design. I have a special affinity for
chairs. I sit in a Eero Saarinen Tulip Chair from Knoll (1955) with
the pink fabric Richochet as my desk chair. It fits me. Not only does
it cradle my back but, I feel good sitting on art. For my dining table
I have Knoll chairs designed by Harry Bertoia in 1950. They are white
with Forza Apollo fabric from Knoll. The chairs are used in the
outdoor sculpture garden at MOMA and for the 5th Ave Apple store. I
use Kartell’s Louis Ghost chair designed by Phillipe Starck in
transparent for sitting chairs in my office. But, today I finally got
my favourite chair! It is designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll and is
called the Womb Chair. It envelopes one into a womb-like space in
curved polished chrome and boucle knit fabric. It has a matching
ottoman that is sold seperately but, how could you not get that as
well? I bought it in Classic Boucle Pumpernickle. But, I plan to
custom recover it in pink wool when I’m tired of that.
