Making Pies and the Brillance of Waitress

I have been really wanting to bake pie lately.  This happens from
time to time that  I  get a domestic goddess instinct that makes me
want to bake pie and wear pearls when I vacuum.  Although, I haven’t
vacuumed in over two years.  Don’t worry, the house is mostly
hardwood and I have a housekeeper for the carpets.  So, I went to
Williams Sonoma a month ago and purchased an Emile Henry Auberge Red
Pie Plate. 

It is absolutely darling and is just begging to have Strawberry Rhubarb Pie
(my favourite!) in it.  I used to pick fresh berries and grow rhubarb
in the garden in safe suburbia.  I will go get some fresh organic
ingredients and bake the pie for the site!

 

I was able to take in Waitress today at the Arclight Cinemas in
Hollywood.  Arclight is by far the best theatre in California.  They
even stock Aqua Panna Water for purchase and you can reserve your
seats in advance online based on your preferences.  It was
practically a private screening during the day on a Thursday.

Waitress is an incredible film.  The writing is brilliant and
meaningful and the stories dark and amusing.  It is labeled a comedy
and the trailer suggests a romantic comedy.  But, it has more to
it.   Keri Russell is the lead as a pregnant waitress in a pie shop
that is trapped in a bad marriage.  I won't share much else about the
story because I would ruin it.  So, you will just have to see it.
But, of of my favourite parts in the film is the way that Keri
Russell's character makes pies in her mind to escape her life.

will close her eyes and say something like "I Hate My Husband Pie"
and then it shows her hands making a pie with ingredients like
bittersweet chocolate and caramel. It is fabulous.

I knew about Adrienne Shelly as an actress, writer, and director
before her tragic death last year. But, I didn't want to think about
that when watched the film. At the films end when the words "In
Loving Memory of Adrienne Shelly" roll, it is difficult to not feel a
terrible sense of loss. The world has lost a great filmmaker,
actress and writer as well as mother and wife.

INT.- VIRGIN MEGASTORE Champs D’Eysee- Night

Popwhore enters the Virgin Megastore Paris and decides to listen to a multitude of French recordings.

POPWHORE
One of my favourite things to do in Paris is to shop at the Champs Champs D’Elysee Virgin Records. I found an artist named Diam’s and her album Dans Ma Bulle is great. Somehow rapping in French is incredibly beautiful. Soft and hard.

my offer to Alec Baldwin still stands

I suppose since I declared him “a guy I want to fuck”, I should
respond to the recent troubles of Alec Baldwin. He is a great
dramatic and comedic actor and I love him for that. I listened to
the message he left for his daughter and in my opinion it went a bit
far. However, I understand the way women manipulate their ex-
husbands and put their children in the middle. This is not
uncommon. The unfortunate aspect is that publicizing a message
creates bigger problems within their family. He did go to far and
there is a point where I think he should have stopped and said he was
sorry for being so upset but, that it has reached a breaking point.
But, he is obviously trying desperately to reach his daughter. It
could have been an honest mistake on the part of Ireland or Kim.
But, I think it has happen so many times that he is feeling that it
is a manipulation. I wish them well and my offer still stands to
fuck him.

Alec you really are a pinko if you don’t call me when I’m in New York and have some bi-partisan fun
