I’ve been in a French film-watching mood over the past few days. I
saw Priceless or ‘Hors de Prix’ in LA at the new Landmark Theatre on
Pico. The film stars Audrey Tatou from two of my favourite
films-Amelie and A Very Long Engagement. She is so absoulutely
perfect for this role in a modern day Breakfast at Tiffany’s. She
romps around the South of France (beautifully shot) with rich, old
men. She mistakes a young bartender (played by Gad Elmaleh) in a
hotel for a wealthy man and begins to chase him. She discovers he is
poor and leaves to pursue more old, wealthy men. He ends up needing
his own Sugar Mama, if you will. It is a gorgeous film with fantastic
fashion, great acting and an adventurous story. Audrey is so wanton
and lovely.

Audrey Tatou stars in Priceless

GREAT recommendation, thanks Tatum! Coincidentally I recently decided to buy two Audrey Hepburn DVDs: Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Roman Holiday. I’d never seen them even though I’m a film fanatic … the screenplays were a bit dated but I thoroughly enjoyed watching Audrey’s performances. Gregory Peck was also good in Roman Holiday, a bit more map-cap compared to the great “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
