Valentino: The Last Emperor

I was sadly out of town for the Valentino LA premiere at LACMA. The film is a beautiful documentary film about Valentino, and more importantly the human elements of his story. It exposes the downfall
our changing age, the loss of art for art’s sake and beauty for beauty’s sake. The subtle emotions of
the relationship between Valentino and his lover are eternal. Any successful human, or truly
ambitious one would comprehend the difficulty of their partnership. The film is one
of the best documentary films I’ve seen in a long time.

Sebastian Maniscalo

I saw Sebastian Maniscalo at the Comedy Store in Hollywood last night.  His set featured the type of brilliant social commentary on the state of post modern American male that would make any girl wet. Of course seeing him live provided a lot more swearing and fucking energy than the Tonight Show would allow for.  Check this clip out ant the next time he comes to your town check him out, you’ll have a great time.

Flight of the Conchords- a quick review

The new show on HBO Flight of the Conchords is brilliant. It
follows two New Zealander guys that are in a two-man band trying to
get a gig. They remind me of boyfriends in bands that are pawning
all of their shit while they make songs. It is an interesting format
for a show. They break into song in between dialogue and the musical
parodies are hilarious and surprisingly good.

You must watch it.

mouthwash

I was at the Standard Hotel Downtown LA over the weekend. They have a great little gift shop that just opened two weeks ago. I bought a pack of pink Orbit gum, a pencil that says “bite me”, and a bottle of this gorgeous mouthwash from Bigelow.

the Clift Hotel San Francisco

Clift Hotel 495 Geary Blvd.

“I have an obsession with hotels and the feelings they evoke when you walk inside. It’s a mini-vacation inside your own city. Philippe Starck designs are throughout and he is one of my favorite designers. It has gorgeous rooms that are simple and elegant. The linens are crisp and white, and there are mirrors on opposite walls that create a tunnel effect.”
